Interested in Illustrating for EFL4U?

Look at this lesson.

It's a good lesson. A really good lesson.

But the worksheet is SOOOOOOOO boring!

Boring Page

Here's what a little layout can do.
See how the page is more interesting?

Page Laid out

That's better, but it's still pretty dry, right.?
Let's add a little background
and some illustrations of people exercising.

Exciting Page

That's more like it.
Now the page has humor and action.
It's not too busy and it's fun to look at.

Compare the three again:

Boring Page   Page Laid out   Exciting Page

Can you take a plain, boring page and make it come alive?

From This to This

A sense of humor
Students learn better when they enjoy what they're studying. Humor always works.

Kinds of Illustrations needed
Can you illustrate any of the following:
  a) People (cartoons, characters, faces, full body, etc)
  b) Animals (cartoons, realistic, etc.)
  c) Things (clothing, fruits, vegetables, machines, furniture, etc.)
  d) Full page layout (borders, design, etc.)

Format
Black & white ink or pen illustrations
All of the lesson worksheets are photo-reproducible and must be able to be printed and copied.

I'll eventually need a hard copy - either fax or snail mail.
(jpeg, gif, bit map and pdf files are OK for proofing the work.)

If you happen to be a Mac fan and use Adobe Illustrator - that's fine, too.

Work Schedule
Normally, a lesson follows the following steps:
1) You'll receive an email from me with a request for an illustration.
At times this is a specific request.
For example: "I need an illustration of a lion caught in a net hanging from a tree."

Sometimes the illustration is left up to the illustrator.
For example, I'll send the content of the lesson. The illustrator suggests an appropriate illustration.

2) The illustrator contacts me via email or fax with a rough sketch.

3) Once approved, the illustrator makes a final drawing. This is faxed to me (or snail mail).

4) On a rare occasion, slight modifications need to be performed.

5) Finished.
I add the illustration to the worksheet and the illustrator is given credit in the Teachers' Instructions page.

Payment for Illustrations

You can receive $25.00+ from start to finish for one worksheet depending on the amount of work involved. Each project has a different budget.

You can receive payment by either:
Bank check (drawn from Bank of America) OR
PayPal (Your choice)

Sample Illustrations

I need to see a few samples of your work.
You can send these via email attachment as jpeg, gif, bit map or pdf is fine. Or fax.

Hope we can work together in the future.

Sincerely yours,

Kurt
